Mumbai Stamp Duty Rates (2026)
Mumbai follows the Maharashtra Stamp Act. Current rates effective from April 2025:

How to Save on Stamp Duty in Mumbai
Women Buyer Concession
Register property in a woman's name (wife, mother, daughter) as the sole or first-named purchaser to save 1% stamp duty. On a Rs 1 Cr property, this saves Rs 1 lakh.
Joint Registration
If buying jointly with spouse, name the female spouse first in the sale deed to claim the concession.
Online Stamp Duty Payment Process
Maharashtra has fully digitized stamp duty payment through IGR (Inspector General of Registration) portal:

Ready Reckoner Value (Circle Rate)
Mumbai uses Annual Statement of Rates (ASR) published by IGR Maharashtra. The Ready Reckoner value is the minimum value for stamp duty calculation. If your purchase price is higher than the Ready Reckoner value, stamp duty is calculated on the purchase price.
